Spike is a fast-growing cow with excellent conformation. Her genotype is e/e ds+/ds+ SP/- cs+/cs+ Dn+/Dn+ r+/r+, so she is a red lineback. Spike has ancestors from at least five of the seven families of Texas Longhorns: WR, Phillips, Butler, Wright, and Peeler (although only a very small percentage of Peeler).
